We recently had the pleasure of working with the Kondash family of Singers Glen, Virginia, on a full metal roof replacement and exterior restoration. Here’s their story.
The Kondashes’ Needed A Metal Roof That Could Protect Their Historic Home.
After 20 years in their beautiful, historic home, the Kondash family began noticing serious roof issues—leaks and soft spots that signaled deeper damage. With a growing list of concerns and a desire to preserve the character of their home, they turned to Valley Roofing & Exteriors since we had helped with smaller metal roof repairs in the past. This project stood out not only for its scale but for its craftsmanship challenges—especially installing the new metal roof over a delicate bay window. Our crews made precise cuts and bends to accommodate the intricate angles.
We also built custom gutters to match the home’s historic aesthetic. While replacing rotting wood, our crew found a few surprising mementos: a small locket of hair—likely from a child’s first haircut—and some names carved into the wood, believed to be a young girl practicing her cursive. We returned the items respectfully and tucked the locket back in place.
The new metal roof transformed the look of the home—replacing the faded pink roof with a refined, durable upgrade.
